Individual Coaching

In supporting the Leadership Development Program, coaching is recommended for those executives with an ambition to maximise their leadership potential.  Meeting the demands of a leadership role often requires assistance to unlock barriers to greatness and becoming conscious of what you don't know.  We recommend starting with six 90 minute sessions with one of our trained executive coaches.  Coaching sessions are based on a collaborative and interactive model incorporating a number of processes to facilitate session objectives.  Our aim is to work with our clients to enhance emotional intelligence and improve overall performance at both an individual and organisational level.

Coaching in its traditional form is a form of dialogue that concerns present time issues or problems that affect a client.  The problems often but not always are external to the client and may be business or project focussed, or an issue where the current form of logic and thinking is not leading to the desired outcome.  There is no need for a particular psychological aspect to the session.  The issue is often about aspects of one's own approaches to managing or leading people, organisations or projects in life, although psychological considerations often intrude into issues brought to coaching.  Coaching is almost a form of  "talk" therapy where the coach and client discuss the particular known issues and behaviours that bring a client to seek help.  In coaching ,specific problems are reviewed and addressed in order to bring greater clarity and understanding of the issues and of themselves.  Coaching is more outcome focussed and does seek to elicit options, a possible best option to work with, and wrap up the issue in that session.

Corporate Energetics goes beyond traditional coaching approaches and offers BodyMind Coaching.  This form of coaching uses all the traditional training and techniques of classical coaching, but in addition it employs the use of  an understanding of bodymind dynamics and how they present in our bodily features, postures, gestures and other body language.  This information is derived from the Reichian and Bioenergetic schools of bodymind science, and the work of Barbara and Allan Pease in body language psychology.

Psychology tells us that we unconsciously evaluate and make up our minds about another person primarily from visual and non-verbal cues and postures, within the first minute of meeting someone.  The brain looks for congruency and confirmation of verbal information to the speaking person's body information via dress, grooming, gestures, postures and movements.

This dimension allows discussion to also focus on the potential bodymind characteristics of persons involved with dynamics with the client.  The information allows one to gain potential insights into the primary inclinations and defences used by others of interest to the client, and which are often given away by bodily gestures and postures.  This information can create comparative advantages for clients in assessing strategies and key words to use in conversations in dealing situationally with these persons. This information is not typically found in conventional coaching disciplines and feedback from clients suggests it adds value to their sessions.

BodyMind coaching also brings awareness to the client of how their body reacts to their mind or thought patterns by protective postures, gestures, fidgets, and rituals.   As a result, clients normally report that their involvement in this form of counselling process creates a new level of conscious awareness of themself, new unconscious patterns of associated thought, a heightened sense of self-worth and ability to tackle ongoing life issues with new strategies and awareness.

BodyMind coaching employs recent scientific knowledge of Neuroscience and how we literally wire our minds and thinking into actual neural circuits in the brain.  Neuroscience now tells us that we develop neural circuits or associated maps in our thinking which left unchallenged will keep us in the same thought patterns all through our life.  The intervention of coaching can change the thinking and mental associations a person typically adopts, with concurrent changes in the brain neural circuits that link and fire when that thinking occurs.  Using particular coaching techniques we create change at both the mind and brain levels.
